MISN can help you enroll in health insurance through the NY State of Health Marketplace. The Community Health Advocates program helps individuals who are uninsured or underinsured understand how health insurance works. Advocates help individuals resolve disputes and medical billing problems, understand health insurance terms and policies, learn about charity care and financial assistance programs, know about appeal and fair hearing rights, and obtain approvals for needed medical services.
New York State residents are encouraged to call the Attorney General’s Health Care Helpline for assistance in obtaining treatment. The Helpline assists the Attorney General in holding health insurance companies accountable to their legal obligation to provide necessary substance use treatment.
